IN LOVING MEMORY
Maria Luisa Gonzales Polo was a student at our school in La Carbonera, Peru.
She was one of the original children who was attending the Sunday School when
Rev. Flor De Maria was going into this impoverished area to share the good news of Jesus Christ and to give these hungry children something to eat.
We began collaborating with "Mama Flor" in 2004 to provide food and Biblical teaching for a small group of children which included Maria Luisa.
Maria Luisa Gonzales Polo was born September 12, 1996 and died at the young age of 13 on November 27, 2009.
Maria was found dead by her mother in what appeared to be a suicide, but was later confirmed by police to be a homicide.
Maria was strangled to death and the killer wrote a fake note in her notebook and put a rope around her neck to make it look like a suicide.
This is a horrible situation for Maria's family, for us, for the community of La Carbonera, and for our staff- especially Rev. Flor de Maria as she has been ministering to Maria since she was a little child!

We ask you to pray for the following:
1-Please pray for justice to be done and the murderer to be found
2-Please pray for the family to have the Lord's peace and come to know Christ through this tragedy
3-Please pray for the other students to have God's peace and protection in this difficult time
4-Please pray about helping! Maria's family is incredibly poor and it is our desire to pay the majority (if not all) of the funeral costs for her family. We will also have counsellors on-hand at the school for the next month or so, which will cost us quite a bit of money that we are taking from planned construction funding. Please pray about helping us with this approximately $1,000 total endeavor!
